What is human nutrition?

Human nutrition is dealing with the provision of necessary nutrients in food which are needed to support human life and health. Poor diet is a chronic problem often linked to poverty, food security or a poor understanding of nutrition and dietary practices. Malnutrition and its consequences are significant contributors to deaths and disabilities worldwide. Proper nutrition helps children grow physically and helps to promote human biological development.

Nutrition is the intake of food, considered the body’s dietary needs. Proper nutrition is an adequate, well-balanced diet combined with regular physical activity, is a foundation of good health and poor nutrition can conduct to reduced immunity, enhance exposure to disease, weakened physical and mental development, and decreased productivity.
Food is included macronutrients such as protein, carbohydrate, and fat. It does not only offer calories to your body but also acting a specific role in maintaining health. Food also serves micronutrients like vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals which do not provide calories but involved in various critical functions to assure our body operates smoothly.

Found in fish, eggs, lean meat, poultry, checking, dairy products like milk, yogurt, cheese and also found in seeds, nuts, beans, legumes like lentils, chickpeas and soy product like tofu even source of protein. Protein provides amino acids in your body, needed for growth, development, repair, and maintenance of the tissues in our body. Protein delivers structure to muscle and bone, repairs tissues when damaged and helps immune cells fight inflammation and infection.


The primary role of carbohydrate is to provide for energy and fuel in our body like the same way to produce kinetic energy in the automobile by fuel such as petrol or diesel.
This energy responsible for our body’s various daily activities as simple manner like walking, talking, running, moving and involved in heavy or straightforward work. It is required growing our body as well as to perform an essential role for vital body function such as heart beating, food digesting and maintaining body temperature.
Carbohydrate found in rice, corn, beans, chayote, plantains, tortilla, potatoes, root vegetables such as yucca, bread.


It is found in oils, milk, cheese, coconut, nuts, meat, and fish. It’s a kind of nutrient that we get from our diet. Fat fills our fat cell and insulates our body. It also helps to absorb vitamins A, D, E and K called fat-soluble vitamins. The fat essential because it gives fatty acids called linolenic acid, cannot make itself in your body, helps for controlling inflammation, brain development, etc.
